The Gale Collection was donated to SHMA by Dorothy Gale, longtime Steilacoom resident. The original collection was gathered and maintained by Minerva E. Weston Schultz. All photos in the collection are relatively small, about the size you see on this web page.

The Schultz and Gale families often visited Lake Kachess on the east side of what is now Snoqualmie Pass. This photo shows two lumbermen and the tree they just fell that had stood ouside the kitchen window of the cabin the family used. About half of it went into the lake, and the rest was used for firewood.
